Building Stronger, More Independent Learners
Teaching students how to learn—not just what to learn—making learning more intentional, more meaningful, and longer lasting.
Teaching students how to learn—not just what to learn—making learning more intentional, more meaningful, and longer lasting.
Students are often taught what they need to learn, but not always how to learn it. The Learning Workshop Company teaches practical learning strategies that help students organize information, understand difficult concepts, remember what they learn, and become more independent learners.
Our Study Skills Toolbox includes twelve practical learning strategies designed to help students understand, organize, remember, and apply what they learn. Each session is 45-60 minutes in duration. Both in-person and virtual options are available. The skills/strategies are noted below.
Break information into smaller, manageable pieces to make learning easier.
Identify similarities and differences to better understand new information.
Organize related information together to make it easier to understand and remember.
Organize information into four sections to break down and understand a topic.
Identify key words and important information to focus attention on what matters most.
Turn information into simple pictures or symbols to help understand and remember it.
Organize ideas visually to show connections and make information easier to understand.
Use memory tools and connections to make information easier to remember and recall.
Identify the most important information and restate the main ideas in your own words.
Ask questions before, during, and after learning to deepen understanding and check comprehension.
Connect new information to something familiar by explaining how the two are alike.
Explain what you have learned to someone else to strengthen understanding and memory.
Our Executive Function Skills Toolbox includes five practical strategies designed to help learners plan, manage their time, get started, stay focused, and become more independent.
Think ahead, break larger tasks into manageable steps, and make a plan for getting the work done.
Prioritize tasks, create a schedule, and use your time wisely to complete what needs to be done.

Learning is more than completing assignments or preparing for the next test. Our goal is to equip learners with practical strategies they can use in school, college, the workplace, and throughout life.
Our workshops teach practical, proven learning strategies that help learners better understand, organize, remember, and apply what they learn.
Every learner is different. Workshops can be tailored to individual needs, goals, strengths, and areas where additional support is needed.
We focus on developing strategies learners can continue using long after the workshop ends—building greater confidence, independence, and ownership of learning.
Traditional tutoring often focuses on helping a student with a particular subject or assignment. The Learning Workshop Company focuses on something different: teaching learners how to learn by developing the skills and strategies they can use to become more effective learners across subjects and throughout life.
